Join Nina Mingya Powles and The Poetry Society at The Poetry Café, London, for a very special free in-person workshop, writing in response to art and art-making!
In the autumn, The Poetry Society collaborated with the British Council Malaysia and George Town Literary Festival to pair two sets of poets together in a 3-month residency; Nina Mingya Powles and Kulleh Grasi, and Cynthia Miller and Qurratul’Ain. The residency culminated in a showcase at George Town Literary Festival in Penang.
As part of The Poetry Society’s ongoing collaboration with British Council Malaysia, Nina Mingya Powles will be running a poetry workshop inspired by her partnership and discussion with poet and artist Kulleh Grasi. Join Nina for a day of making poems in response to art and art-making in a time of drastic environmental change.
You can also join us for an online afternoon of performance and discussion from the four poets on 3rd February!
If you have reserved a ticket and are no longer able to attend, please notify us at info@poetrysociety.org.uk so we can release your ticket to the waitlist.
Nina Mingya Powles is a writer and librarian from Aotearoa New Zealand, of mixed Malaysian Chinese heritage. She’s written several poetry pamphlets, zines & books, most recently Magnolia 木蘭, Tiny Moons & Small Bodies of Water.
Thank you to the British Council Malaysia for making this event possible. This workshop is for adults over 18 only.
