Throughout February, artist Kate Genever has been carrying out her residency “We have found in the ashes what we lost in the fire” as part of our ‘Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet’ programme. The residency is a response to the overarching themes of the ‘Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet‘ programme and informed by recent conversations Kate has had with visual artists and curators about how they make to recover, rejuvenate, refresh and rest.
With other artists Kate has been researching how ease, peace and rejuvenation can be found in creative processes Seeking out and displaying this work, alongside her own and finally reflecting on how what she’s learnt, and how it might offer a useful counterpoint to our commodified “well being” culture.
As part of this work Kate will be hosting a conversation and Q&A about her findings on Saturday 2nd March, 3pm. She’d love you to join her to find out more about her discoveries.
Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet
Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet will bring together artists and curious people through walks, talks, dinners and workshops to consider what we need at a time when the world feels fragile in many ways.
Inspired by ideas from the book ‘Radical Intimacy’ by Sophie K. Rosa, Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet will explore the themes of home and refuge, the idea of rest and solidarity, community and connection through a varied series of events.
Strong Bonds for a Fragile Planet will take place as a selection of WALKS, TALKS, DINNERS and WORKSHOPS with plenty of ways to get involved.

Kate Genever is an artist and farmer based in South Lincolnshire. As a farmer, alongside her family, she runs a traditional mixed farm of suckler cows, sheep and combinable crops.
As an artist she tries to make sense of the world through drawing. Taking drawing to be more than a technique – “rather a disposition that reveals our connections with the world of materials, nature and each other… a drawing from, with and together”. Over extended periods, she builds deep connections with people and place, in the celebration and support of DIY responses and community actions.
Kate’s residency “We have found in the ashes what we lost in the fire” is part of the ‘Stronger Bonds for a Fragile Planet’ programme in February 2024.
